I was met by the lovely Jocelyn on reception. She recognised my name and her welcome made me feel as though she was genuinely excited to have us arrive.
Going into the function room Anne, Cheryl and Sylvia were setting up tables but made time to welcome and chat to all of us as we added flowers and decorations
The general feeling was that this was a party that we were all having together staff and guests.
On the morning of the wedding, every single member of staff asked how I was feeling and wished me well for the day. The following day every single member of staff took time to ask how we’d enjoyed our day. We were made to feel very special and welcome by everyone.
The Bridal Suite is huge and luxurious and the perfect place to get ready. My eight-year-old bridesmaid was particularly taken with the copper bath, she made sure nobody missed the opportunity to admire it!
While getting ready I was a bit giddy with anticipation for the day especially given the beauty of the Fleece & the fabulous welcome from the staff. The vibrant Bridal suite was a perfect backdrop to my excitement.
From my window, I could see guests arriving as the gorgeous Sam Copland did my make-up, and my lovely hairdresser Helen Barrie curled my bridesmaid’s hair.
The Hadrian Suite was the perfect place to celebrate our wedding. The way the team managed the space throughout the day for different elements was seamless. Having the patio and the garden added an extra element, allowing space both for children to play and for people to chat away from the music. Staff were also happy for us to dress it up with fairy lights, which made the space even prettier and more festive.
The food was divine, although Gary forgot what he ordered and ate mine!
Every single guest commented on the quality of the food. My youngest bridesmaid fell asleep and missed dinner. It was a few hours later when she woke and the staff, who had tried to keep her food hot, provided her with a whole new dinner rather than serve her something that had been sitting for a while. We didn’t have to ask; a thoughtful member of staff just wanted to make sure that she was looked after. One more example of the exceptional service the Fleece staff provide.
The day had been perfect and we were excited when the evening guests started to arrive and we could continue celebrating.
Scott had recommended James, our DJ, and we were so happy he did – James played everything we asked for, responded to requests, and kept the dance floor full. Since the wedding, guests have talked about the delicious evening buffet; unfortunately, neither of us found time to eat anything so we’re hoping to be invited to a wedding at the Fleece sometime soon to check out what we’re told were delicious pork pies and cheese souffles!
From the moment we met our Wedding Manager, Scott, we liked him and trusted that he understood the vision we had for our day. He was honest about the feasibility of some of my ideas and helped us have the relaxed fun day that we wanted. There was no hard sell, no pushing of anything we didn’t want, and no enticing us to spend above our budget. He kept in touch regularly, it’s evident that he loves his job and wanted to be a part of our day. Gary’s brother was unwell on the day of the wedding and Scott even checked on him regularly throughout the day, ensuring that his dinner was delivered to him.
When we decided to marry, Gary and I had a clear vision of what was important to us. From our own experience of other weddings, people remember the food, the venue, and whether they had a good time. Those were the aspects we chose to concentrate on, and every one of our guests have commented on those aspects of the day.
We couldn’t stop smiling from the minute we arrived at the Fleece, and my only regret is that the day passed by so quickly. I spoke to Scott a few days before the Fleece hosted their second wedding and experienced a pang of envy that another couple still had it all to enjoy.
