Local Walks & Beauty Spots

Where do we start? We’re situated in arguably the most beautiful county in the UK.

Simply walking out of our front doors will leave you with views of rolling fields and woodland that instantly instill a sense of peace and tranquility. But, there are a few local beauty spots that should be noted – perfect for family walks with or without your canine companions.

Talkin Tarn and Talkin Fell are just 6 miles from us, these two routes offer the best of both worlds, a flat circular tarn walk of around 1.3 miles or a more exertive hike up one of the smaller fells in our area which offers stunning views in all directions. Miltonrigg, Wetheral and Gelt woods offer well maintained footpaths through dense, stunning Cumbrian woodland and Watchtree Nature reserve offers accessible nature trails and family activities year round.

There are countless river walks, public footpaths and parks in the area, if you’re not sure where to start simply ask our reception team, they’ll point you in the right direction.

Of course, we’ve not even mentioned The Lake District National Park, Hadrian’s Wall or the Solway Coast – your ability to get lost in the beauty of nature is almost endless when you stay at the Fleece.
